Katniss was adopted 3/7/14

Left-Katniss enjoying outdoor playing with Amanda.

Right-Katniss December 2014.

Katniss is a 4-year old Bulldog mix that was found severely malnourished by a good Samaritan in Leighton on Thanksgiving Day 2014. Katniss is now a 44-lb beautiful sweet baby. She loves others dogs, kids and people. Katniss enjoys outdoor playtime as well as cuddling on the sofa. She is fully vetted and started heartworm preventive in February 2015.

UPDATE 2/21/15 - Nikki is now fostering Katniss and took her to the vet. Diagnosis: Katniss' HW test wasn't strong enough to be a complete positive so they put her in a HW preventative and want to retest her in 6 months.

UPDATE 1/2/15 - Katniss was 26 lbs when Amanda rescued her and she is now 43 lbs. That's a lot of TLC.

UPDATE 12/20/14 - KATNISS received a $500 donation to pay for her heartworm treatment. Thank you to the generous donor.

WELCOME OUR VERY FIRST THANKSGIVING INTAKE

Please sponsor KATNISS by donating towards her heartworm treatment estimated at $500 to start in December 2014.

KATNISS was abandoned in Leighton, AL. She was starving and severely malnourished when Amanda rescued her and committed to foster until adoption or rescue is confirmed. Katniss is a 2-4 year old Bulldog mix. Intake date 11/27/14.

Amanda, the good samaritan that rescued her agreed to foster her until adoption or a rescue is confirmed. SAA provided a dog house, food and vetting. Thank you Amanda!

Hi my name is Tide! I was adopted 1/10/15

Tide was adopted 1/10/15.

TIDE is a male Basset/B.D. mix that was abandoned in Haleyville with his siblings Crimson and Bama. Born November 2013. He's house/crate trained and fully vetted.

Tide would do best in an indoor environment due to the prior abuse and neglect he endured because we think when he's outside he thinks he's being abandoned again and he has anxiety with it.

He's starving for attention and play time. Meet Tide and fall in love!

Squirt was adopted on 1/26/15

INTAKE 11/19/14. May have a prospect adopter.

SQUIRT is a male grey tabby kitten that was abandoned in Franklin County. Born March 2014. Vet report: we are using antibiotic eye drops to get the infection cleared up then we will be able to better assess his eye and determine if it needs to be removed. Even if it isn't removed he will likely be blind in that eye. He has bad conjunctivitis and is only 3 lbs at the age of 7-8 months.

UPDATE 1/7/15-Report on squirt: I took him to work with me today to have his eye rechecked. He has gained over 2 lbs and went from 3 to 5.6. The vet said his eye has healed as much as it is going to and that it looks great, but where the puncture was the iris is stuck to the cornea but that there's no point in doing any surgery because the only issues it may cause him is his vision may be a tad blurry in that eye and he may not see as well in very bright light but other than that he's great.…
